Fluid bed technology in the pharmaceutical industry
Fluid bed technology is a thermal and mechanical process technology for the production of powders and granules. It is based on the generation of a fluid bed or fluidized bed, which is created by a flow of liquid or vapor medium. This separates different components of the fluids and reduces the moisture content in the raw materials, such as powders and granules.
The option to realize several processes in only one system makes the fluid bed technology so attractive: It is possible to dry, coat and granulate solid particles uniformly. Due to the optimized movement in the fluid bed / fluidized bed, the products are treated homogeneously. The technology is correspondingly productive, environmentally friendly and leads to high-quality results.
Further advantages are the flexible integration into the production, combined with a very high process stability, and the introduction of active ingredients during the process, for a very efficient absorption of active ingredients.
In addition to the pharmaceutical industry, fluid bed technology is also used in biotechnology, agriculture, the chemical industry, the food industry and in nutritional supplement production.
